Red Plate Prognostication

So yesterday (August 8) was a pretty good day. One of Kristie's cousins had a new baby and Mel-NAP finally hired Kristie to a real live full-time job.

Steve and Kristie made plans to attend the board meeting where they voted to hire her and Steve made dinner and served Kristie's on the red plate¹. Kristie complained that Steve was jumping the gun since she hadn't signed a contract or actually been hired yet. Steve said it was a done deal so it counted.

A few minutes later we went to the meeting. The actual hiring was a bit anti-climactic since Kristie's hiring was part of the "consent agenda" and didn't even come up by name. The meeting lasted about an hour including a few reports, public comment and some items from the staff².

After the meeting the board secretary came to Kristie to have her sign her contract³.

1. The Red Plate is reserved for days when one of us does something really good.
2. My personal fave was a citizen who complained about small children driving a golf cart on the track at the high school only to have a board member later say it was her grandchildren doing it.
3. Thus proving Steve's red plate premonition was wholly correct.
