A Clue! A Clue!

Monday night is generally game night around here¹ and one of the things that happens lately is that Tim² brings his dog's along. This works out pretty well for all involved. Storm³ and Dora like to play and Chewie⁴ and Snuggles generally sleep. Kristie is distracted by having four dogs to pet⁵ and the gamers are left mostly alone.

Usually, Dora and Storm split their time pretty evenly between getting underfoot and fighting over chew toys. Storm especially likes the ones that squeak. Frequently, the two of them, with their rowdy behavior, are sent downstairs to hang out with the boys⁶. One night they were all pretty quiet and we were pretty happy. we played a couple of games, then decided to try and convince Kristie we should watch bad movies.

Steve went up to convince Kristie, she agreed, and he returned to the basement to find Tim wiping Storm's feet. It turned out that the reason he'd been so quiet was that he was busy chewing up a felt-top pen. Steve came up to get something to remove the ink. Kristie gave him some nail polish remover then decided to come down to see if she could help.

The four cotton balls she'd brought weren't really up to the level of ink on Storm's pause. Everywhere he stepped he left a pawprint which, given that he'd chewed up a blue pen, looked remarkably like the pawprints on Blue's Clues. Kristie lost her patience with the men and declared that Storm was to be brought upstairs for a bath, which she gave him while we watched a movie⁷.
