Guard Dogs

Any stranger1 who comes to our house can count on a frightening reception from our dogs. When the doorbell rings or the knock sounds2, they leap into action.

Well, Dora leaps into action anyways - both of them start barking and Dora tears from one door3 to the other trying to figure out what's going on. Snuggles stands her ground and barks.

When the door actually opens and someone comes in, the real comedy starts. The barking continues. Our 60 pound shepher-retriever mix continues barking while backing away from the intruder at a steady pace while our 30 pound fat mutt continues barking while waddling4 forth to deal with the intruder.

  1. or Lou
  2. It can be on TV or someone (other than Steve) pounding on the wall - for some reason, Steve pounding never fools them.
  3. Luckily she hasn't figured out yet that there are actually three doors
  4. Kristie gets mad when we say "waddles" but there's no other word that really describes it.
