Mowing the Lawn
The lawn was actually in pretty good shape except for one part out front which was getting badly overgrown. Mowing the whole thing took just over an hour.
First, there was fifteen minutes where Steve struggled to get the mower to start. He primed and pulled many times, eventually deciding he just needed to pull harder to get it going. After spending several minutes using a sheet bend1 to fix the now broken starter cord before he finally figured out the problem.
After putting gas in the mower, it took about 15 minutes to mow the really bad part (less than 10% of the total job) and another 20 to do the rest of the front yard. Several holes were discovered. The backyard was done in no time at all.
With the grass cut, the hedges look even more wild than before.
Some discussion is had about the length of time spent mowing, which Steve considers considerable and Kristie considers laughable. It turns out that three people spent three hours mowing her childhood lawn once a week. Steve's lawn experience is closer to one guy taking 30 minutes if he stops for a soda between front and back lawns.
