The Desk

The desk is an older Steelcase model. It's not pretty but it is large and useful. The surface is about 3' x 5' and Steve's computer (among other things) has lived on it for years. It was originally purchased by Ron (Steve's brother) and he arranged to store it at the house until he needed it.

When originally installed, it took Ron and Steve's dad several hours. In the time since then both have lodged several complaints about the weight of the desk and the difficulty of moving it. They brought it down in three major parts, then assembled them in the basement.

On Sunday, Steve tried (unsuccessfully) to disassemble it into three parts for the trip back up the stairs. After failing, he was cursing the desk when his mother suggested removing the feet. That was pretty simple and enabled them to move the desk out of the office easily.

From there, the stairs looked doable but Steve, based on the stories he had heard, feared the desk and decided to wait for more help. On Monday, he and Lou brought it up the stairs nearly whole (missing 1 drawer and the legs), loaded it onto the truck and drove to the new place.

Tim arrived to disturb their watching of junkyard wars and the three moved it into the office and put the legs back on in about half an hour. All three agreed that it was much easier to move than the Entertainment Center.
